Why do you call NextBlock a city?

NextBlock is social media reimagined as a city on the internet. Every person who signs up is a citizen. Every citizen gets a block, their free page. Promoters put up billboards, paid videos that pay citizens to watch. The city is built on open protocols (Bitcoin for payments, Nostr for identity) that no one company controls. It's a city because it's a place. Not a feed. Not a platform. A place.

Is this another watch-to-earn scam?

No. NextBlock is a real company with a simple, transparent business model. Promoters put up billboards. NextBlock charges a 20% service fee. Citizens watch and earn Bitcoin at the price they set. That's what funds the company. We're not a coin, a token, or an investment. There's no pyramid, no fake money. Claiming a block is free. Using NextBlock is free.

Do I need a strike account to start?

No, not to start. You can build your block right away: your handle, photo, bio, links, the whole page. You only need a free Strike account when you claim it, which is the step that makes you a citizen and lets you get paid.

Is NextBlock free?

Yes. Building a block is free, and claiming it is free. Anyone can start building right now. To claim your block and become a citizen you need a free Strike account, which is how we verify you're a real adult and how you get paid.

Can kids use NextBlock?

No. NextBlock is adults only. We don't believe in promoting or advertising to kids. Every citizen is identity-verified as an adult through Strike.

How do I get paid? Where does the money go?

When you watch a Billboard to completion, you earn Bitcoin. Your earnings settle to your Strike account every block, about every ten minutes. From there, you can save, spend, send to a friend, or cash out.

It's your money.
No long waits, no minimum payouts.

Can advertisers track me?

No. Promoters pay to put up a Billboard. They see aggregate metrics: how many citizens watched, completion rates, opt-outs.

They don't see your identity, your handle, or your behavior. NextBlock doesn't sell your data to anyone.

What data does NextBlock collect?

As little as possible. To claim your block, we use Strike to verify you're a real person. We store your public block content (photo, bio, links) and your private earnings record. We don't track your activity outside NextBlock. We don't sell what we have.

Who owns the videos I post?

You do. Most platforms take a broad license to use your videos however they want. NextBlock doesn't. Your content lives on Nostr Build, signed with your private key. Your videos are yours, not ours.

Can I be anonymous on NextBlock?

Mostly. You can claim a block with any handle you want. Your real name doesn't appear on your block unless you put it there. Strike verifies your identity privately (NextBlock doesn't see your legal name). Only what you put on your block is public on Nostr.

Can I get banned?

In rare cases. NextBlock follows US law and our Terms of Service, so we won't host illegal content (CSAM, fraud, direct threats). We protect free expression and don't remove blocks for opinions or perspectives we disagree with. Even if we removed your access through our app, your block lives on Nostr (an open protocol), which means you can keep using it through any other Nostr app.

What if I leave or NextBlock shuts down?

You can delete your NextBlock account anytime. Your identity is a Nostr identity, and its key is yours, not ours. That key works on any Nostr app, so you're never locked in. NextBlock is an interface to Nostr, not its owner.

Will I be able to post on my block?

Yes, eventually. Today your block is your free page with your bio, links, and a way to receive sats.

How much does it cost to advertise on NextBlock?

You set two things: a maximum bid per view (the most you'll pay any citizen for a single completed watch) and a budget (the total going to citizens).

100% of your budget pays citizens at the prices they each set. NextBlock charges a 20% service fee on top of the budget. That's how the company funds itself.

Example: $1,000 budget = $1,000 to citizens + $200 to NextBlock = $1,200 total. You only pay for completed watches.

Can I target specific people?

Yes and no. You can share your Billboard link directly with anyone you want: your email list, social, DMs. They watch, you pay your rate.

NextBlock's marketplace doesn't target people through tracking or surveillance. We don't and won't steal data.

How do you stop bots from watching?

Every citizen has a verified Strike account. Strike verifies real adults (real person, real banking relationship). Bots can't pass that bar. We also detect completion, so you only pay when a real person watches your Billboard all the way through.

Do I need to know Bitcoin?

No. You'll learn as you use it. NextBlock pays you in Bitcoin when you watch a Billboard. Your Strike account handles the technical side. We hope using NextBlock encourages you to learn more about Bitcoin. It's the best money, and not just for sending over social media.

Why does NextBlock use Bitcoin?

Bitcoin is the only money that works the way NextBlock needs it to. It's global. It's instant. It doesn't depend on banks.

It can move in tiny amounts (you can earn 100 sats from a single watch). The Bitcoin you earn is yours. Once it settles to your Strike account, NextBlock can't freeze it or take it back.

What's a Strike account?

Strike is a free app that handles Bitcoin payments. You need a Strike account to claim your block. It's how we verify you're a real person, and how you receive what you earn. Your earnings settle there, and from Strike you can save, spend, send, or cash out.

What if Bitcoin's price drops?

Bitcoin's price moves up and down. If it drops the day after you earn some, the dollar value of what you earned goes down. The number of sats stays the same. You can cash out at any time through Strike to lock in the dollar value. You can hold. Or you can spend your sats directly on NextBlock by zapping them to other blocks. Either way, what you earn is yours.

Do I owe taxes on my earnings?

If your earnings exceed the relevant tax reporting threshold in your country, you may be required to report these earnings on your taxes. Please consult a tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.
